I’m Back!
After being out of action for slightly over a year, I never imagined that I will be back so soon. Back doing something I started with years back – teaching SketchUp. This time to a group of resellers of Wordtext Systems Inc, the distributor in the Philippines.
Yes, it’s more fun in the Philippines!
This training workshop was a good opportunity to test the skills and techniques I learnt from my ACTA course. I wrote 4 customised user guides for this training – “Getting Started”, “Architecture & Planning”, “Scenes & Layout” and “The Finer Touch”. These user guides also made used of landmarks and geo locations in Manila so that the participants could relate better.
There were 25 participants with skill levels of having never used SketchUp before (sales personnel) to those who are competent (architects and technical support). The training was for one day but a smaller group wanted to learn more, so we had another half day session the next day. It was indeed challenging to be able to handle 2 groups of participants with vastly different levels of competency. My ACTA training definitely helped. It’s not just knowing the subject matter but how to train effectively. Besides the training, I also followed up via email and online support to answer any other queries they have.
Oliver Co, product manager for SketchUp at WSI, reported that the event was a successful one and the feedback from the participants were all positive. WSI is now planning similar training workshops as a follow up. Special thanks go to the team – Elfred, Jordan and Grace for helping with the logistics and support during the training.
This is indeed a great beginning. More to come soon!
